Official Logo for Art (2019)
The Official Logo for Art is a series of acrylic sculptures commissioned by George Brown College for their new School of Design.
Mansur created an 8’ sculpture for the lobby, a 5’ sculpture for the second floor, and a 3’ sculpture for the third floor.
The pieces combine the traditions of sculpture and painting.
A built and painted sculpture is housed within translucent acrylic panels that cause the internal elements to shift under changing light and viewing conditions.
The light casts internal shadows, illuminates other segments, and allows the viewer to visually travel through the composition.
The artwork's vibrant presence belies it's fragility and changing nature.
By reacting to the scale and light of the entrance to the building, Mansur seeks to provide viewers with a creative foil. Something to react to or against in the search for a muse.
This artwork was made for this place. It is a statement of location, identity, and place.
