How does Kal make his work, and what are his materials?

Kal creates a wide range of artworks using varied materials including acrylic, plexiglass, and epoxy resin.

His acrylic wall works are dimensional objects made of painted plexiglass. Embedded fluorescent pigments project colour through the edges. The work magnifies light, allowing the viewer to visually travel through the composition.

Mansur also creates pigmented and poured epoxy resin sculptures. Their solidity is borne out of a process combining temperature, time, and viscosity. These result in topographical objects that continue his exploration of the forces that shape abstraction.

Mansur’s Land Escapes are large-scale paintings with embedded circular sculptures that create changing reflections. A textured surface is built with a palette knife and washed over with translucent glazes. Embedded circles shift in and out of monochromatic fields of color. The painting starts to bloom as one walks around it.

Mansur’s stroke paintings are created with a house painting brush and gold acrylic paint, resulting in a mesmerizing shimmer that changes with the viewer’s perspective. He employs directional brushstrokes to infuse the work with a sense of perpetual movement, evoking a feeling of endless motion.
