This artwork is a solid, carved epoxy sculpture which began as a liquid. Its solidity is borne out of a fluid process combining heat, time, and viscosity. Mansur employs these geological forces to create a slab where pigment and substrate are one and the same. He then excavates into the object, creating translucent and topographical steppes that are only visible upon closer inspection.
