DISRUPTIVE PATTERN MATERIAL (DPM 36) | Diffused acrylic construction, 36 x 48 x 2.75 inches, 2016 (Sold)
"DPM 36" inaugurated a new body of work influenced by a term coined by the British Ministry of Defence. DPM or Disruptive Pattern Material was a form of camouflage developed for military forces in varying climates. Here it is transposed as an enigmatic wall sculpture that exploits available light. Describing the composition, Mansur says his aim is to create "proportionate repetition within a disproportionate field". Executed in solid acrylic, Mansur has managed to transform this industrial material into a luminous, polymorphic, and multifaceted work of art.
