When Kal Mansur started making this new body of work, he was thinking of the act of striking a stone with another stone. This simple act formed both human civilization and the natural world. This series is evocative of that idea, with slabs appearing to be relics excavated from the future. He settled on the name, knapped, which means to break, or to strike with a quick blow.
