Wear the Path (2025)

Kal Mansur + MSRP, Wear the Path (2025)
Medium: Acrylic on panel, solid oak frame
Dimensions: 62 x 38 x 2.5 in

Wear the Path is part of a collaborative series between Kal Mansur and MSRP*, executed in acrylic on panel and framed in solid oak. The interplay of bold chromatic transitions—from fiery oranges to verdant greens and yellows—creates a dreamlike terrain that is both serene and charged with energy. The composition is layered with structured elements, including striped rectangular forms that punctuate rolling hills, suggesting human intervention within nature. This juxtaposition of organic curves and rigid linearity speaks to the tension between the natural world and built environments, offering a dynamic visual dialogue between precision and fluidity.

*MSRP stands for Myta Sayo Research Projects, a new visual art initiative by Myta Sayo.

Kal Mansur builds a thick, monochromatic painting, layering a range of hues to create depth and complexity. A translucent glaze washes over the surface, pooling in crevices and cascading over edges. Circular resin sculptures inundate the work with changing reflections. They emit a soft glow that hints at hidden depths. Their surfaces possess a duality -- both waxy and reflective, they invite contemplation amidst a veil of uncertainty. The work echoes the geological process of land formation, where layers of terrain evolve over time, undergoing excavation, alteration, and eventual transformation.
